Season of Creation Prayer

As we enter the Season of Creation 2026, from 1 September to 4 October, Christians around the world are invited to reflect on our responsibility to care for God’s creation. This year’s theme, “Living Water,” draws on Ezekiel 47:1-12, where God’s life-giving water flows from the temple, bringing healing, renewal and abundance to the land. It reminds us that all creation is interconnected and that the flourishing of people, communities and ecosystems depends upon the careful stewardship of the natural world.
For our sisters and brothers in the Anglican Church of Melanesia, the themes of water, creation and environmental care are not abstract ideas but daily realities. Across Melanesia, communities are experiencing the effects of climate change through changing rainfall patterns, flooding, drought, coastal erosion and increasing pressure on freshwater supplies. Through the work of the Environmental Observatories and the Green Apostles Programme, local churches are helping communities understand these changes, care for creation and build hope for the future.
As part of your observance of the Season of Creation, we invite you to use the following prayer, written by Freda Fataka, Environmental Observatory Coordinator for the Anglican Church of Melanesia. May it help us stand in solidarity with those most affected by climate change, deepen our commitment to creation care, and give thanks for the gift of God’s living water for all creation.
