MMUK joins with the Anglican Church of Melanesia in mourning the passing of the Right Reverend Ellison Quity, a faithful servant of God whose life and ministry touched many across the Pacific.

In a message of condolence, the Most Reverend Leonard Dawea, Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Melanesia and the wider Anglican family across Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, and New Caledonia, expressed their deepest sympathy to Mrs Jessie Quity, her children, grandchildren, and extended family.

Bishop Ellison was consecrated and installed as the sixth Bishop of the Diocese of Ysabel on 7 February 2016. He served faithfully in this role until his retirement in September 2025. Throughout his episcopal ministry, he was known for his humility, wisdom, and steadfast devotion to God’s people.

Before becoming a Bishop Ellison, he played a vital role in shaping future leaders of the Church as Head of School at Mano Wadrokal School of Theology and Ministry. There, he helped form generations of clergy, grounding them in strong theological understanding and deep pastoral commitment.

As Bishop of Ysabel, he strengthened parishes, supported and guided clergy, and encouraged the faithful to live with courage and unity. His leadership left a lasting impact not only within his diocese but across the wider Anglican Church of Melanesia.

While the Church mourns the loss of a devoted shepherd, it also gives thanks for Bishop Quity’s life of faithful service. His legacy of faith, leadership, and dedication will continue to inspire many for years to come.
