New Sister Provincial Installed for the Community of the Sisters of the Church

Published: October 14, 2026

The Melanesian Mission UK gives thanks that Sister Kristy has been installed as the new Sister Provincial of the Community of the Sisters of the Church (CSC) in the Anglican Church of Melanesia.

The historic service took place during the Holy Eucharist at Tetete Ni Kolivuti (TNK), the Community’s headquarters on Guadalcanal, and was officiated by the Right Reverend Benedict Loe, Bishop of Guadalcanal and Bishop Visitor to the Sisters.

Many of our supporters across the UK will know Sr Kristy well. Over the years, she has built strong friendships with supporters of the Melanesian Mission and has visited the UK on a number of occasions, sharing the story of the Sisters’ ministry and helping to strengthen the links between our churches and communities.

Originally from Tikopia, Sr Kristy has faithfully served the Community for many years and now takes on the responsibility of leading the Sisters at an important time in their life and mission.

She succeeds Reverend Sister Veronica, who has completed nine years of dedicated service as Sister Provincial, providing faithful leadership and guidance to the Community.

In his sermon, Bishop Loe reflected on the theme of “Faithful Leadership in God’s Mission”, drawing on the stories of Moses, St Paul and the wedding banquet in Matthew’s Gospel. He reminded Sr Kristy that leadership is not a position of privilege but one of service, prayer and encouragement. He urged her to be an intercessor for the Sisters, to lead with patience and faithfulness, and to ensure that the Community continues its witness to Christ among the poor, vulnerable and marginalised.

The Community of the Sisters of the Church plays a vital role across Melanesia. The Sisters serve in parishes, schools, health ministries and community programmes, while also travelling to remote islands to share the Gospel and offer practical support to those in need. Their witness, commitment and service continue to be a blessing to countless communities across the region.

As Sr Kristy begins this new ministry, we invite all our supporters to hold her in their prayers.

“May the Lord bless Sr Kristy with wisdom for leadership, courage for the challenges ahead, and grace to guide the Community of the Sisters of the Church in faithful service of God’s people.”
