MMUK Water Way Pilgrimage

Published: November 26, 2023

In September six pilgrims walked and unicycled 60 miles in six days to raise awareness and funds for the charity’s climate advocacy work in Melanesia. Starting in Bath with a sending off from Mary Magdalen Chapel and a blessing at Bath Abbey, the pilgrims walked the Glastonbury Waterway, praying at churches and speaking to people they met along the way. Many thanks to the churches who welcomed and fed the pilgrims, and to sponsors who have helped the pilgrims raise £2,800 for the charity’s environmental projects. MMUK’s Katie Drew posted about the pilgrimage on the charity’s social media and also here – Katie Drew is fundraising for The Melanesian Mission (justgiving.com).

In 2024 MMUK is planning another pilgrimage – St Hilda’s Way in June to raise awareness and funds for the Community of the Sisters of Melanesia’s gender justice ministry. If you would like to join this pilgrimage, please contact the charity.
