Appointment of New ACoM General Secretary

The Anglican Church of Melanesia (ACoM) has entered a new chapter in its leadership. The Most Reverend Leonard Dawea, Archbishop of ACoM, is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Adrian Toni as the next General Secretary of the Church, following a formal signing ceremony on 15th December.
The brief but significant event took place at the Provincial Headquarters in Honiara, presided over by the Archbishop and witnessed by the outgoing General Secretary, Canon Dr. Abraham Hauriasi, and ACoM’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Peter Pitia.
Meet the New General Secretary
Mr Toni, originally from Isabel Province, will succeed Canon Dr Hauriasi, who has served with distinction for more than 14 years. The official handover will take place on 1 July 2026, but Mr Toni will begin his duties as General Secretary-designate on 1 March 2026 to ensure a smooth transition.
Mr Toni brings impressive academic and professional credentials to the role. He holds a Master’s Degree in Environmental Economics from Kobe University in Japan and currently serves as Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist for the Integrated Economic Development Community Resilience Project within the Ministry of Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening. His previous roles include:
- Provincial Capacity Development Advisor for Central Province (2016–2023)
- Provincial Secretary for Ysabel and Western Provinces (2010–2016)
Alongside his government service, Mr Toni has been deeply involved in the life of the Church since 2020, contributing to various ACoM boards and committees. His experience in senior administration and management will be invaluable as he steps into this key leadership position.
A Smooth Transition
By starting in March, Mr Toni will work closely with Dr Hauriasi to ensure continuity and stability within the Church’s administration. This careful handover reflects ACoM’s commitment to strong governance and effective leadership.
New Chief Financial Officer
In addition to Mr. Toni’s appointment, ACoM is pleased to announce Mr. Frank Seka as its new Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Seka will begin his role on 5 January 2026, further strengthening the Provincial Office’s leadership team.
