ACOMSIC Games 2025: Celebrating Unity, Culture, and Education in Solomon Islands

This June, the Anglican Church of Melanesia is hosting the ACOMSIC Games 2025—a vibrant celebration of sport, culture, and community spirit. Held in Honiara from 16–21 June, the Games bring together Anglican schools and institutions from across Solomon Islands in a week-long festival of fellowship and friendly competition.

A Special Year of Celebration

This year’s Games are especially meaningful as they coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Anglican Church of Melanesia’s independence. The event not only showcases athletic talent but also highlights the values of unity, resilience, and faith that underpin Anglican education in the region.

Participating Schools

Six Anglican schools are taking part in this year’s Games:

  • Selwyn College
  • Taroniara Community High School
  • Bishop Norman Palmer School
  • St Nicholas College
  • St Francis Vaturanga
  • Kolobaubau Community High School

These schools will compete in a range of sports including futsal, netball, football, volleyball, and athletics, fostering teamwork and school pride.

More Than Just Sports

A unique feature of the ACOMSIC Games is the Pageant, where each school presents a themed performance addressing key social and environmental issues. This year’s themes include:

  • Climate Change and Natural Disasters – Selwyn College
  • Social Issues and Drug Awareness – St Nicholas College
  • Education – Bishop Norman Palmer School & Kolobaubau CHS
  • Culture and Identity – Taroniara CHS
  • Environment – St Francis Vaturanga

These presentations offer students a platform to creatively express their concerns, hopes, and cultural heritage—an inspiring reminder of how education can empower young voices.
