News from MMUK’s School Partnerships
MMUK Trustee Colin Butler, who was elected in September 2023, has been reviewing the charity’s school partnerships and helping to resource the links with a number of initiatives. UK schools now receive a newsletter each term reporting on the links and offering suggestions for meaningful partnerships. The charity’s prayer boxes are being updated and our Care for Creation lessons are available for Key Stages 2 to 5.
We are delighted that Colin is using his experience to help school partnerships flourish.
Colin writes:
“In 2008, I had never heard of Bishop Patteson or knew where Melanesia and the Solomon Islands were. This all changed when I became Headteacher of Feniton CofE VA Primary School, the very village from where Bishop Patteson came.
Once in post, I was able to realise an opportunity to enrich the lives of the staff and pupils at Feniton and the Islands by creating educational and pastoral links with the Solomons and specifically the Norman Palmer School. The project was an important one for both schools in the Otter Valley Federation and for me on a personal level.
In January 2023, I retired after 33 years in education and am now able to give my time, commitment, and passion for school partnerships as a trustee of The Melanesian Mission UK.”
