Diocesan Bishops from the nine dioceses, representatives from the National Government, Royal Solomon Islands Police Force, members from Solomon Islands Christian Association (SICA), the Solomon Islands Full Gospel Association (SIFGA) and a huge number of Church members within DoCM came to witness the event.
Senior Bishop of ACoM, the Right Revd Nathan Tome delivered a powerful sermon urging members of the church to be filled with the Holy Spirit before filling others or pouring out to others on this Pentecost day.
“Church is a blessed community and thus God is calling the church to arise and involve in the mission of the church,” he said.
“Let’s talk God and move God in every moment of our lives,” he added.
Archbishop George Takeli in his official address said: “The goal of re-launching the Decade of Evangelism and Renewal from 2018 – 2028, is to revitalise the full participation of all ACoM members in evangelism with their spiritual gifts for the Church growth.
“Not only that, but to respond to our national Government in working towards peace building and security in our nation especially as we draw close to the exit of the Regional Assistant Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI),” the Archbishop said.
The themes for this decade is a vision of an emerging Church and building a new community of God’s people in the Anglican Church of the Province of Melanesia. The theme clearly and confidently speaks of the vision of a Church, that will inaugurate a new community of God’s people in Melanesia. A new Church that will be spiritually motivated and will be characterised by the works of evangelism, teaching, compassion, justice, renewal, worship and growth. Apart from the central themes of the decade, each year will have a supporting theme that will help to fulfil these.
